Chongqing Airport Expects Its Cargo Volume To Double

SOUTHWESTERN China city Chongqing will enhance its airport facilities to achieve the aim of developing it into a hub and this will double its air cargo throughput.

According to Xinhuas report,in the future,50 per cent of Chongqings IT product exports will be transported by rail,30 per cent by air and 20 per cent by water.Of the 30 million laptops manufactured in Chongqing this year,10 million will be transported by air.

The airport plants to spend CNYL bullion(US$154.5 million)on building a 170000-square-metre cargo terminal.The first phase,a 30000-square-metre bonded international cargo terminal,is being built and is expected to be operational by year end.
