  "The hull loss rate of cargo aircraft is several times higher than for passenger aircraft.The cargo fleet is older and maintenance intensive and more exposed to maintenance error,"said Cranfield lecturer John Snow in support of the application.

  PhD candidate Dhanapala Jayakody-Arachchige,working in the Air Transport Deparment at Cranfield in the UK,is the recipient of TIACA'US$25000 Walter H Johnson,Jr PhD educational scholarship.

  Mr Jayakody-Arachchige aims to design,test and validate a risk assessment model that can be utilised in a Continuing Airworthiness(CAW)environment under the new European Aviation Safety Agency guideliness.
